A 3-night storytelling retreat by the sea — designed to help you uncover your authentic voice and share it with confidence. Held at the historic Asilomar Conference Grounds on California’s central coast, this immersive retreat combines writing, reflection, and storytelling in a supportive community setting. With shoreline walks, cozy campfire circles, and time for both creativity and connection, you’ll leave with not only a stronger story but also practical tools for sharing it with the world. How is this retreat different from other writing workshops? Most writing workshops focus only on craft or critique. Stories by the Shore creates a safe and sacred circle where every voice is valued, blending reflection, authentic storytelling, and practical guidance. Day Two (Friday): Explore self-discovery through writing prompts, shoreline meditations, and reflection. Day Three (Saturday): Celebrate authenticity by sharing your story in a supportive circle. Day Four (Sunday): Gain practical tools for taking your story into the world — blogs, websites, self-publishing, social media, and short-form video. What you’ll gain: Confidence in your authentic voice A renewed sense of creativity and self-expression A supportive community of fellow storytellers Practical strategies for sharing your story beyond the retreat Investment: $333 workshop fee – paid to John Mothershead (covers all sessions, materials, facilitation) ~$1,130 lodging & meals – paid directly to Asilomar (includes 3 nights, meals, tax & fees) Total: ~$1,463 for a fully inclusive retreat experience. All attendees are required to stay on-site at Asilomar for the whole retreat. Terms apply; the workshop fee may be credited toward a future event if you cancel.
