From Burnout to Breakthrough: Embracing Abundance

Let me take you back to 2011. I was living in New York City, working a soul-sucking retail job at an early childhood center in Tribeca. By day, I managed the chaos with a big smile plastered across my face, charming wealthy clients who often asked, “How do you do it? How do you keep up this energy?” I’d jokingly reply, “Lots of coffee in the morning and lots of alcohol at night.” Except... it wasn’t a joke.

I had given up on my dreams of a musical theater career and was stuck in a routine that left me feeling dead inside. I deserved a Tony for my daily performance at work, masking my misery with enthusiasm I didn’t truly feel. My mornings were fueled by caffeine, my evenings drowned in cocktails, and my spending habits reflected my inner chaos—overspending on things I didn’t need to numb the void I couldn’t face.

In its infinite wisdom, the universe had been nudging me toward change. Subtle signs kept appearing, but I ignored them. I was too busy surviving—or at least pretending to be. Finally, the universe decided to stop playing nice and started hitting me hard.

The Day Shit Hit the Fan

For three consecutive Saturday mornings, I arrived at the historic Tribeca storefront feeling hungover and exhausted. Then, I found that someone had decided to relieve themselves all over the front door—and I mean everywhere—it was a biohazard.

On the third week, I ran late, entirely out of cleaning supplies (thanks to the previous two weekends), and felt utterly hopeless. Just as I stood there sighing in defeat, an email pinged on my phone. It was an opportunity of a lifetime.

At that moment, I knew it wasn’t a coincidence. The circumstances—the shitstorm, quite literally—were too perfect. The universe had created the conditions I needed to wake up and act. The email changed everything for me.

I wish I could tell you that I was perfectly qualified for this opportunity, but I wasn’t. It was a job as a professional yo-yo performer. Yes, yo-yos. The problem? I didn’t even know how to yo-yo. But if the universe thought it was time for me to pivot, it was time to start practicing. And practice I did (but that’s a story for another day).

What mattered was that I noticed the opportunity. I recognized that the universe and the angels had placed it in my path, and it was up to me to say yes. From that day forward, I realized something profound: I didn’t have to wait for everything to fall apart to start making better choices. The tower card moment wasn’t a requirement. I could actively practice habits aligned with my highest good every day—and so can you.

Low-Vibration Habits That Keep You Stuck

If you’re feeling stuck or numb, chances are you’re engaging in some of these low-vibration habits:

  1. Scarcity Thinking: Focusing on what you lack instead of what you have.

  2. Procrastination: Avoiding actions that could bring growth or change.

  3. Comparisons: Measuring your worth against others and feeling inadequate.

  4. Complaining: Dwelling on problems instead of seeking solutions.

  5. Clutter: Allowing physical and mental chaos to obstruct energy flow.

  6. Fear of Change: Resisting new opportunities due to fear.

  7. Overcommitting: Taking on too much, which leads to burnout.

  8. Judgment: Criticizing yourself or others, which creates negativity.

  9. Resentment: Holding onto grudges that weigh you down.

  10. Self-Doubt: Constantly second-guessing your abilities.

  11. Negativity Overload: Consuming media or thoughts that amplify fear and worry.

High-Vibration Habits to Transform Your Life

The good news is you can replace those habits with simple, intentional practices that invite abundance:

  1. Gratitude Practice: Acknowledge blessings, big or small, each day.

  2. Visualization: Imagine the life you desire as if it’s already happening.

  3. Generosity: Share your time, energy, or resources freely.

  4. Decluttering: Clear out spaces to allow energy to flow.

  5. Self-Care Rituals: Prioritize your well-being in small, meaningful ways.

  6. Investing in Growth: Seek out courses, mentors, or skills to expand yourself.

  7. Authenticity: Align your actions with your truth and values.

  8. Mindful Consumption: Surround yourself with uplifting media and people.

  9. Daily Affirmations: Speak positive truths over your life, like “I am abundant.”

  10. Aligned Action: Take small, intentional steps toward your goals.

  11. Celebrating Others' Successes: Rejoice in the success of others, trusting there’s enough abundance for all.

Feeling Stuck? Here’s How to Shake Up Your Energy

If you’re unsure where to start, here are a few tips to help you shift from a low vibe to a high vibe:

  • Meditate: Spend 5-10 minutes in stillness or use a guided meditation to clear your mind.

  • Gratitude Journaling: Write down three things you’re grateful for each day.

  • Declutter: Clean out your physical space—it works wonders for mental clarity.

  • Move Your Body: Dance, take a walk, or do yoga to release stagnant energy.

  • Creative Expression: Paint, write, or try something new to ignite your spirit.

  • Nature Connection: Spend time outdoors to ground yourself and recharge.

You don’t have to wait for a dramatic wake-up call like I did. Start noticing the subtle signs and choosing habits that serve your highest good today.
